You may not think you're a horse trainer, but every time you are around your horse, you are teaching him something.

Are you teaching him something good...............or something bad?

Do you know the difference?

If you're looking for the facts about horseback riding, or horse training tips, you've come to the right place.  At Kula Kai Farms we offer non-denominational training whether you have a barrel racer, dressage horse, or just want a solid partner.  Techniques you'll learn will instill respect, control, suppleness, and confidence in both you and the horse.

You will learn ground work exercises that help get the horse under control and respectful.  You'll also learn simple, versatile desensitizing exercises to help your horse be less spooky and more confident in many situations.  All this will transfer to under saddle exercises, and will keep you and your horse on the trail to success.

We can accommodate your needs whether you would like to bring your horse to our facility or use one of our horses.  Our diverse horse population can adapt to fit your horsemanship needs.  Give us a call so we can further discuss options available.

What is true horsemanship?  Well, horsemanship is mostly about feel.  How do you describe feel?  It's an intangible, maybe King of the intangibles.
Ask a jazz musician how he knows which note to play in an improvised solo.  It's feel.  Feel cannot be taught; it becomes part of the person; it operates from the intuitive self.  It becomes feel!
These are some sayings that are brilliant in their simplicity, and on-the-mark relevance from a useful foundation for building a language based on feel.  In reality the greater importance of true horsemanship is allowing us to develop better, safer, happier horse's; but we are becoming better, safer and happier people in the process.  Not only is it true horsemanship, but it is a revolution in realizing human potential.  You're not working on your horse, you're working on yourself.

--- There's a purpose and a meaning behind each thing you ask the horse to do.
--- Make the wrong things difficult, and the right things easy.
---- The horse learns not to be particular if the rider is not particular.
--- Get the feet soft and they'll be soft in the head.
     --- THINK
---You are with him every stride.
---If you haven't got his attention you don't try to direct it.
--- Notice the smallest change and the slightest try and reward him.
--- Ride your horse with your whole body, not just your arms and legs.
--- Body language: teach your horse to act like a person; meanwhile you work at acting like a horse.
